You're probably puzzled by the flop of the sequel when shopping cart hero 1 was so well received. The simplicity worked then, but since that game other games in the genre such as toss the turtle and hedgehog launch have incorporated a lot of depth in their games esp in terms of development and upgrades.
So too bad for you I guess, people expected the quality of toss the turtle (which was frontpaged for so long), and this doesn't quite cut it.

Someone below said easy mode was pointless. That made me laugh. Don't play easy mode then! Play normal mode if you have what it takes.
To all those who just whine and complain, you're noobs. Deal with it. You never understood arcade games.
The only gripe I had with this was that pixel-y graphics made it a little hard at times to see if you're "on" the ladder or not, which made all the difference between life and death. If the ladder "detection" had just abit more width, it'd be great!
I'll beat this someday =D

That took some time, effort and planning ahead! It was quite tough having to control WSAD, space bar AND mouse to get through some of the golden egg passages. I'm sure many of the frustrating elements, such as how you can't aim the rifle where you want, the knockback of enemies, how you can't hit the bouncing enemies easily etc, are intended. However there are some points:
1) Being stuck at the boss fight. Sometimes, after his little speech he just gobbles his ice cream...and nothing happens. Well, restarting the game works, but it happened quite a few times so you might want to look into it.
2) Not quite a glitch, but you can't jump onto a cliff when you're too close to it, in some cases, which can be quite frustrating.
3) You might want to look into click-dragging to control the chicken? Spamming clicks is somewhat annoying....

Nice and simple, but this is nowhere even near William and Sly. Make more games like those, please =)

The opening sequence was epic, and it lasted pretty much throughout. I like your art style, the voices are great.
The dad scene was a little...wrong...

This is basically the same game (as Nemesis) with new models for the same units, plus the ability to control two new battle units. I was expecting a larger overhaul than that. You've tried to shake it up by having all-in-one mobile base unit aka. warmachine, but I think it made the game feel emptier. There is no territory to defend, no buildings to capture, if the enemy comes you can just uproot everything and go.
This was somewhat compensated by better-designed levels. More levels involving dumping lots of units from both sides together at the start, so you enjoy large scale battles right off the bat. Well done to that but....while I appreciate how hard it must be to code AI, but it often does the most ridiculous things, like throwing condor bombers non-stop into my wall of raptors, or battlecruisers circling around hitting nothing while I get free shots from my own ships, etc etc. If you can give the AI a major improvement, (and, imo, revert to the traditional bases and to-be-captured buildings), this game is golden.
And what's up with the desperately-trying-to-be-funny characters? It gets old quick. It was bearable in Nemesis, but you've overdone it here.

"A couple of points regarding balance..."
This game is really great, don't get me wrong. However I think it needs balancing, unless such were your intentions.
Early on, the commanders themselves can hold off any invading army (almost). There is no incentive to send troops out there to die. Yes, if they get to the other side you'll be rewarded with gold, but they cost a lot to train and upgrade in the first place.
You can spend the early part simply building up your economy and upgrading all the production buildings, then start upgrading the weapons and towers and massing troops. Whatever gold you're missing out from not sending troops in battle, you're gaining it from resources (more than you'll ever need to spend anyway)
However, I never needed to use troops. The magic potions are ridiculous. Even till the very end, 3 ranged commanders with magic potion simply stop EVERYTHING. Sending troops becomes a hassle. There ought to be a more streamlined way of sending them out, possibly incorporating hotkeys or queues. Clicking one by one is annoying, no surprise I just stuck with my commanders. Well, actually I just wanted to see when the commanders-only tactic could last me, so I was really quite surprised when I survived till day 75 using just that. Well I suppose that was only possible cuz I saved up all the potions from early on...

Well made game, I enjoyed it while it lasted.
It's a very simple game, just needs a wee bit of logic. It's not your fault that it's simple: it's simply a mathematical property. It's ALWAYS possible to solve with 4 colours. To solve with 3 colours is like doing sudoku with 3 numbers: very easy. If you hit a dead end then it simply cannot be solved with 3 colours. That's all there is to it.
Well my point is that while they're really kinda too easy, it's not that you weren't thinking hard enough about them and I acknowledge that level design is probably quite tough! So kudos for that. Try making a harder type of puzzle next time.

It's a tad too easy and too linear compared to the first one...
